UEFA Champions League: Previewing the Play-Off Round
The play-off round of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League is upon us, and it will see 14 teams from across Europe competing for a place in the league phase.
These teams will play in seven first-leg matches this week: three matches on Tuesday night, 20 August, and four matches on Wednesday night, 21 August.
Tuesday will see the following clubs face off: Bodø/Glimt versus Crvena Zvezda; Dinamo Zagreb versus Qarabağ; and Lille versus Slavia Prague.
On Wednesday, the remaining eight clubs will clash: Dynamo Kyiv versus Salzburg; Malmö versus Sparta Prague; Midtjylland versus Slovan Bratislava; and Young Boys versus Galatasaray.
Of the seven matches, many will have their eyes on Lille and Slavia. In April, Lille came up short against Aston Villa in the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals, so the French club are hoping to redeem themselves by making a strong showing against their Czech opponents in this tournament’s play-off round.
Whatever happens, it promises to be an exciting two days of football for Champions League fans!
